Description
Dr. Feinstone escapes from the mental hospital where he has been held ever since his wife's adultery sent him on a deranged killing spree. Hoping to resume a normal life, he makes his way to a quiet Midwestern town and establishes himself in a new practice under an assumed name. Things are starting to look up for Dr. 'Caine' – that is, until the day he catches his new love in the arms of someone else. As before, the impact of romantic betrayal sends him over the edge into madness and murder, with his unfortunate patients once again bearing the brunt of his hostility.

Key opinion
The Dentist 2 is a polarizing sequel that leans heavily into surrealism and psychological character study. While fans of the original appreciate the expanded depth of the protagonist and the heightened sadistic sequences, critics find the narrative incoherent and the production quality unrefined.
| Acting | Corbin Bernsen delivers a charismatic and compelling central performance that anchors the film even as his character descends further into madness. | |
| Direction | Brian Yuzna pushes the series into more grotesque and surreal territory, featuring more intense and inventive dental torture than its predecessor. | |
| Screenplay | The narrative's shift toward psychological exploration divides viewers; some find the focus on the villain's internal collapse and potential for pity engaging, while others view the plot as disjointed and lacking the coherence of the original. | |
| Cinematography | The visual style is a point of contention, with some praising its unique, dreamlike atmosphere and others criticizing the unstable camera work and aging aesthetic as looking cheap. |
