Barney, Christmas and the rest of the team comes face-to-face with Conrad Stonebanks, who years ago co-founded The Expendables with Barney. Stonebanks subsequently became a ruthless arms trader and someone who Barney was forced to kill… or so he thought. Stonebanks, who eluded death once before, now is making it his mission to end The Expendables -- but Barney has other plans. Barney decides that he has to fight old blood with new blood, and brings in a new era of Expendables team members, recruiting individuals who are younger, faster and more tech-savvy. The latest mission becomes a clash of classic old-school style versus high-tech expertise in the Expendables’ most personal battle yet.

The Expendables 3 is widely regarded as the weakest entry in the franchise, criticized for its sanitized tone and technical shortcomings compared to its predecessors. While the ensemble cast and nostalgia for 80s/90s action continue to attract a loyal fanbase, opinions are sharply divided on whether the film successfully pays homage to the genre or suffers from lazy execution and an identity crisis.

Acting Mel Gibson stands out as the most compelling and effective villain in the franchise.
Acting Antonio Banderas delivers a standout comedic performance that elevates his scenes.
Emotion The PG-13 rating results in a sanitized, bloodless action experience that alienates fans of the franchise's grittier, R-rated roots.
Production The special effects, particularly the CGI used in helicopter and explosion sequences, are widely criticized as poor, cheap, and visually unconvincing.
Acting Opinions on the ensemble cast are divided: some appreciate the star-studded nostalgic reunion, while others argue the large roster leads to underutilized legends and underdeveloped new characters.
Originality The film’s tone is polarizing: some view it as a fun, self-aware throwback to mindless 80s/90s action, while others dismiss it as an incoherent, low-budget-feeling cash grab.
