Key opinion
The Hangover is widely celebrated as a definitive, high-energy modern comedy that revitalized the bachelor party subgenre. Its success is attributed to a tight, puzzle-like screenplay and the distinct chemistry of its central cast, which consistently delivers laughs despite its reliance on crude, vulgar humor.
| Acting | The ensemble cast, led by Zach Galifianakis, displays strong chemistry that anchors the film's absurd and chaotic narrative. | |
| Screenplay | The screenplay functions like a well-constructed puzzle, using a detective-style mystery structure to turn a chaotic premise into a satisfying comedic experience. | |
| Score | The soundtrack features a selection of high-energy, memorable tracks that perfectly complement the manic and stylish vibe of the Las Vegas setting. | |
| Humor | The humor is characterized by its sharp wit and clever absurdity, though it draws heavily on crude, vulgar, and occasionally lowbrow jokes that may not appeal to all viewers. | |
| Originality | While many praise the film's unique take on the Vegas premise, others argue it is not entirely original and that some of the humor and tropes have aged poorly over time. |
