Key opinion
The Last Princess is a poignant biographical drama that depicts the tragic life of Korea's final princess with emotional weight and historical ambition. While the film occasionally leans into creative liberties to heighten its narrative impact, it is largely elevated by powerful performances and a moving portrayal of national struggle.
| Acting | Son Ye-jin delivers a powerful and emotive performance that serves as the emotional anchor of the film. | |
| Theme | The narrative successfully captures the princess's internal resolve and the broader historical tragedy of the Japanese occupation. | |
| Adaptation | The film blends historical events with fictionalized elements to create a more cinematic and dramatic account of the princess's life. | |
| Pacing | The two-hour runtime is perceived as a slow-burn experience; while some find the contemplative tempo fitting for the subject matter, others feel the pacing can be demanding. |
