The Texas Rangers chase down a gang of outlaws led by Butch Cavendish, but the gang ambushes the Rangers, seemingly killing them all. One survivor is found, however, by an American Indian named Tonto, who nurses him back to health. The Ranger, donning a mask and riding a white stallion named Silver, teams up with Tonto to bring the unscrupulous gang and others of that ilk to justice.

The Lone Ranger is a visually ambitious and technically impressive spectacle that polarizes viewers due to its erratic tonal shifts and excessive length. While many praise the high-octane action sequences and Hans Zimmer's score, the film's reliance on repetitive tropes and a disjointed screenplay prevents it from achieving a cohesive identity.

Score Hans Zimmer's score provides a grand, authentic, and uplifting musical foundation that elevates the western setting.
Production The film features spectacular, high-stakes action sequences, particularly the climactic train chase, which deliver pure cinematic excitement.
Acting William Fichtner delivers a standout, radical performance that steals every scene he occupies.
Acting Johnny Depp's portrayal of Tonto is highly divisive, with some viewers finding it a compelling, tragic turn while others dismiss it as a stale, uninspired caricature of his Jack Sparrow persona.
Theme The film's tone is inconsistent, struggling to reconcile violent, gritty themes like cannibalism with forced, juvenile slapstick humor.
Runtime The two-and-a-half-hour runtime is frequently criticized as exhausting, with a sluggish middle act that tests viewer patience.
