Key opinion
The Red Book Ritual: Gates of Hell is widely panned as a disjointed and derivative anthology film. While it features a few isolated moments of effective horror, the overall experience is marred by poor acting, illogical character behavior, and deceptive marketing.
| Originality | The film utilizes misleading localized marketing to falsely associate itself with the Final Destination franchise. | |
| Screenplay | Character decision-making is consistently illogical and predictable, undermining the stakes of the horror scenarios. | |
| Screenplay | The narrative structure relies heavily on tired, cliché-ridden tropes such as portals to evil and spirit boards. | |
| Direction | The anthology format produces a disjointed viewing experience, where the amateurish quality of the segments fails to coalesce into a satisfying film. | |
| Emotion | Opinions on scare quality are mixed: while most segments are criticized for being weak, specific vignettes involving childhood fears and body horror are cited as genuinely effective or noteworthy. |
