Key opinion
The Tuxedo is generally viewed as an entertaining, lighthearted action-comedy that succeeds as a fun watch for fans of Jackie Chan, despite being widely considered inferior to his classic Hong Kong work. Opinions are sharply divided on its reliance on CGI and wire-work, which many feel undermines the legendary stuntman's traditional physical prowess.
| Acting | Jackie Chan remains an engaging screen presence whose charisma and physical comedy successfully carry the film for his fanbase. | |
| Acting | Jennifer Love Hewitt delivers a charming and effective performance that provides a strong comedic and action-oriented chemistry with Chan. | |
| Screenplay | The plot features a predictable and underdeveloped premise that relies too heavily on the convenience of the 'tuxedo' gadget rather than character development. | |
| Direction | The film's heavy reliance on CGI and wire-work is divisive; while some find it stylistically fun and spectacular, others argue it cheapens Chan’s trademark practical stunt-work. |
