Key opinion
Vice is widely regarded as a failed science-fiction thriller that relies on unoriginal, derivative concepts and weak execution. While a small minority of viewers appreciate its modest budget utilization and ethical subtext, the consensus points to a disjointed, poorly scripted, and uninspired production.
| Screenplay | The screenplay is heavily derivative, frequently recycling plot devices and concepts from established genre staples like Westworld, Surrogates, and The Island. | |
| Acting | Bruce Willis's involvement is widely perceived as a perfunctory, low-effort cameo used primarily as a marketing tool rather than a substantial acting performance. | |
| Acting | Opinions on the lead performances are divided, with some critics praising Thomas Jane and Ambyr Childers for grounding the story, while others dismiss their work as theatrical, unengaging, or lacking star power. | |
| Production | Opinions on the production quality are split between those who see it as a commendable effort to deliver sci-fi visuals on a limited budget and those who find the sets, makeup, and action sequences cheap and unconvincing. |
