Key opinion
Invasion is widely regarded as a visually polished spectacle that offers significant improvements in technical execution and CGI compared to its predecessor. However, the film is consistently criticized for its derivative plot, thin character development, and narrative logic gaps that undermine its attempt at a meaningful sci-fi drama.
| Production | High-budget special effects and CGI sequences, particularly the water-based destruction scenes, represent a clear technical advancement for the franchise | |
| Acting | Alexander Petrov’s performance as Artyom stands out as the most coherent and logically motivated character arc in an otherwise weak ensemble | |
| Screenplay | The screenplay relies on recycled disaster tropes and formulaic plot structures, leaving the narrative feeling predictable and hollow | |
| Theme | The film features a central thematic interest in modern information warfare and digital manipulation, though many viewers find these concepts underdeveloped | |
| Pacing | Opinions on the pacing are split; some find the action-heavy tempo satisfying and engaging, while others feel the film suffers from abrupt narrative shifts and erratic editing | |
| Ending | The film's ambiguous conclusion divides the audience, with some appreciating the open-ended nature and others finding the final resolution implausible or frustratingly unresolved |
