Key opinion
Wonder Woman (2009) is widely regarded as a competent and faithful origin story that effectively balances character development with action. While some critics find the plot pacing and the antagonist's impact uneven, most viewers appreciate the film's serious approach to Greek mythology and its strong portrayal of Diana’s evolution.
| Screenplay | Diana's character arc provides a compelling look at her growth from a sheltered Amazon princess to a formidable warrior. | |
| Theme | The film utilizes Greek mythology effectively to ground the narrative, drawing thematic and visual parallels to classic epics. | |
| Production | The hand-drawn animation style is widely praised for its aesthetic quality, though viewers accustomed to other animation standards may find it distinct or unusual. | |
| Screenplay | The portrayal of Ares as a villain is divisive, with some seeing him as a menacing god of war and others finding him laughable or cheap. | |
| Pacing | The pacing is viewed inconsistently; some feel the narrative effectively builds, while others find the opening segments on Themyscira boring or uneven. | |
| Theme | The film's feminist themes are generally accepted as well-integrated, though opinions differ on whether they occasionally undermine the portrayal of male characters. |
