Key opinion
Youth is a visually arresting, meditative exploration of aging, memory, and the tension between past achievements and present realities. While many praise its emotional depth and stylistic brilliance, others find the narrative structure loose and the reliance on surreal, symbolic vignettes somewhat self-indulgent.
| Acting | Michael Caine and Harvey Keitel deliver masterfully restrained and nuanced performances that anchor the film's philosophical inquiries. | |
| Direction | Paolo Sorrentino’s direction employs striking, painterly cinematography and precise symbolism to create a visually luxurious and evocative atmosphere. | |
| Score | The soundtrack, blending classical compositions with contemporary tracks, is essential to the film's identity and emotional resonance. | |
| Screenplay | The narrative prioritizes character studies and fragmented, impressionistic moments over a traditional plot, which some find hypnotic while others find aimless. | |
| Pacing | The film's measured, contemplative tempo rewards viewers seeking a meditative experience, though it leads to accusations of a lack of narrative momentum. |
