Key opinion
Francis Ford Coppola's return to filmmaking is a polarizing, philosophically dense art-house experiment that prioritizes complex, often opaque, intellectual themes over conventional storytelling. While critics and audiences frequently praise the film's striking cinematography and Tim Roth's compelling lead performance, many find the narrative disjointed, pretentious, and emotionally distant.
| Acting | Tim Roth delivers a powerful and convincing performance that grounds the film's supernatural premise. | |
| Cinematography | The film features stunning, immersive cinematography that succeeds in creating a unique visual atmosphere. | |
| Screenplay | The screenplay is criticized for being overly dense, fragmented, and cluttered with unresolved philosophical symbolism. | |
| Runtime | The two-hour runtime creates a divisive experience: some viewers find the contemplative, measured pace meditative, while others perceive it as slow and exhausting. |
