Куган, помощник шерифа из Аризоны, должен по долгу службы доставить из Нью-Йорка обратно в свой штат беглого преступника. Во время конвоирования преступнику удается сбежать при помощи своих сообщников. С этого начинаются приключения "Техасца", прозванного так с "легкой руки" нью-йоркскими полицейскими. Не стесняясь своей белой широкополой шляпы, с верным кольтом в руке, он показывает городским "ребятам" как надо выслеживать и ловить преступника. Герой знает толк не только в стрельбе, но и в сердечных делах, ведь даже самые неприступные и коварные женщины после встречи с ним раскрывают ковбою все свои тайны...
