Описание
Фильм бросает вызов древней и устоявшейся традиции похищения девочек, насилия над ними и принудительной женитьбы. В основе сюжета – история адвоката Миазы Ашинафи, основателя организации, оказывающей бесплатные юридически услуги малоимущим женщинам и детям. Ее клиенткой становится 14-летняя Хирут Ассефа, которую по дороге из школы похитил 29-летний фермер. Хирут убила похитителя из его же винтовки, но для эфиопского правосудия именно она стала преступницей. Девочку держат в тюрьме, ей грозит смертная казнь. Молодой адвокат, вдохновленная мужеством своей клиентки, начинает борьбу с системой и варварскими традициями.
